The Big "3"

Matthew just turned 3!  He will hold up three fingers, but keeps telling me "2".  He is very much the little boy who likes to be like his big brother, loves trains, Curious George, Paw Patrol and farting.

Cheek healing is still coming along and he finally was able to wear a pair of sunglasses pretty comfortably.  I think it's also safe to say he has crossed into the land of wearing big boy underwear during the daytime.  I know Matthew worked on potty training while he was still in China, so thankfully we weren't starting from square one. We had tried a few times in the past to start, but he wasn't quite ready.  One day we discovered he had put on underwear under his pants all by himself and never told anyone.  I only found out after he had an accident, but he has been excited to wear underwear ever since.   Much like everything else with Matthew - all in HIS time! During the potty training process, we had made a list of people (Grandma, Robbie, Paw Patrol...) to "be proud" of Matthew's potty achievements.   Matt even added some people to the proud list.  It cracks me up when he tells me the name of his plastic surgeon and that he is happy Matt went poo poo.  While I am still on the potty topic... I will also like to add that I am forever grateful for the invention of Lysol wipes, little boys just don't aim well.

Finally able to wear sunglasses that aren't lopsided.

It's so neat to see how much he has been changing.  He is speaking so much now.  Funny how far he has come from the little guy who would only occasionally whisper this time last year.  Some things are still hard to understand and then other times he can tell me a whole sentence clearly.   He passed his preschool screening for next fall with flying colors though.  They were pretty impressed he has only been speaking English for little over a year.

18th Birthday Scavenger Hunt

We had a Scavenger Hunt for Shelby's 18th birthday.  Teams had 2.5 hours to complete as many tasks in our local area.  There were two teams (4 girls each) and to get full credit for each task you had to have your team mascot (either Zippy or Mickey) in your pictures.  Team Mickey pulled off the win with their abundance of perfume samples.
